Frequent Questions & Answers

                                   Frequently Asked Questions

Do you currently have any puppies available and how much do they cost?

See the “New Puppies” tab or sub-page.  Please refer to our pricing page.

How long have you been raising/breeding boxers?

We have been raising AKC boxers since 2003.  We have not used any other registry or breed.

At what age can the puppies go home?

Puppies are fully weaned and ready to go to their new homes around seven to eight weeks of age. We require that the puppies receive their first set of shots and they are vet checked before we will release them. They receive their first set of shots by our vet at 6 weeks old. If he said they are ready to go before 8 weeks and are ready at 7 1/2 or 8 weeks, then they could go. Never before the vet check-up  and first shots. The pups will be ready for their second set of shots at 9 weeks old and the third set with rabies shot at twelve weeks old. Some vets do this a little different, but our concern is that the pup is healthy and ready plus not to have a pup over vaccinated.

Are all of your adults and puppies AKC registered?

Yes.  All our adults are purebred AKC (American Kennel Club) registered. We have only have AKC Boxers and we Do Not have any other dogs.

How do I reserve a puppy?

By placing a full deposit of $200 to hold your puppy.  Arrangements on deposits can be made on certain circumstances. Please contact me.

What is your refund policy on deposits?

They are non-refundable but could be transferred to another litter.

Do you take checks/PayPal?

We take cash and Zelle. We are no longer using PayPal for deposits or balances. Please contact me before sending any type of payment.

Zelle is very secure and we have been very satified with them.

How do I purchase a puppy/get on the waiting list?

To make a deposit/reservation, you can place it through Zelle.  Be sure to contact me first. Be sure to indicate which puppy or litter.

Do you have a health guarantee and do you guarantee the color of the puppy?

Health guarantee: Absolutely!  We stand behind the health of our puppies 100%.  Please see our Health Guarantee.  Color guarantee: We can NOT guarantee that the puppy will stay the color he/she is, when chosen. Many will lighten up or get darker.

What do you feed your puppies?

Sportmix Premium Puppy Food found at Tractor Supply stores. It is a natural balanced puppy food that contains a good natural balnce. We have chosen this because this company has never had a recall or issues with their pet foods.  They also make an organic dog food.  You will also get a small bag to take home with you at the time you take your puppy home.

What do you refer to as for dog food ratings?

You can check ratings on dog food by visiting:  www.dogfoodadvisor.com  They explain terminology and how they do the ratings.  Then you decide what is best for your dog and which is within your budget.

Where are you located?

We are located about 12 miles east of Jack, about 17 miles north of Enterprise, about 25 miles southwest of Troy. We are about 65 miles south of Montgomery.  In southeast Alabama.

What hours are you open, so we can come and visit the puppies before we choose one?

We are here most of the time.  We do not have regular “open” hours as we do not have puppies continuously year-round.  Please read about visiting on our visiting page.

No puppy pick ups on Sundays, as this is the Lord's Day.

Are the puppies wormed?

Most definitely. We worm the puppies from 3-6 weeks of age. Our puppies are vet checked for worms. The worming information is included in your take-home packet along with the shot records.  All of our dogs are on a heartworm medicine. This passes through the mother's milk which the puppies receive while nursing.  We have had the pups tested for worms, with the results being negative at those earlier weeks. Our puppies see our vet at least 3 times before they go to their new homes and at least 4 times if they are shipped.

Do your puppies come with full AKC registration?

Puppies come with a full AKC registration. We highly recommend neuter and spay. Limited registration is only on the rundts in the litter which means that you can not put the pup/dog into conformation shows or use the dog for breeding purposes. If you are looking to breed, please contact me first.

Do you give the puppies their first vaccination?

Our vet does.  Puppies come with the first set of puppy shots. A vet issued vaccination record is included in the new puppy owners take-home packet.

When will their next vaccination be due?

Generally at 9 weeks and again at 12 weeks (with rabies shot).  Some vets give shots at 15 weeks also.

Do you protect against parasites at your kennel?

Absolutely.  Parasites are a common organism, as are worms, and all breeders should protect their puppies from worms and parasites. We administer a prescription parasite preventive called “Albon” or "Marquis" which we get from our vet.  It’s expensive, but it’s worth it!

Should I take my puppy to the vet right away?

Your puppy will have had all of the health requirements administered by our vet that will ensure that you take home a happy, healthy puppy.  You need to have your puppy vet checked within the 72 hours, per our contract.

Why do I need to keep my pup on NuVet Plus?

Both of the pups parents have been on NuVet Plus before they were bred. The mother stays on NuVet Plus to keep her immune system high. She also passes this on to her unborn puppies and also passes this on to her puppies after they are born through her milk. While the puppies are being weaned and after being weaned her puppies stay on NuVet Plus. By continuing to keep your puppy on NuVet Plus, you are keeping your puppy's immune system high, so you should have very few medical issues if any. This will also help keep your puppy from having an outbreak of demodex (red mange) which thrives on a low immune system. See our "Demodex" page. You also will want to keep your puppy on NuVet Plus, per our contract. This because we are looking out for your puppy and we want him/her to stay healthy.

What is included in the new owners take-home packet?

  • Weepin Oaks Boxers Puppy Health Guarantee/Contract
  • Registration Papers from the American Kennel Club
  • Vet issued shot record
  • Small bag of Wholesome Puppy Food
  • NuVet Plus information

Do you dock the tails and remove the dew claws?

Our vet does both.

Do you ship puppies?

Yes, we ship puppies.  Shipping is extra.

Has your kennel ever been inspected by AKC?

Yes! We have been approved by AKC standards.

Are you a puppy farm or puppy mill?

NO!  In a puppy farm/mill you will find small cages stacked, the dogs receive little to no exercise and little to no human contact.  The dogs are unclean and receive lack of physical care.  Our dogs and puppies are played with to keep them socialized.  We have about 3-4 litters a year, many times less. Puppy mills have puppies constantly. Here, at Weepin Oaks Farm & Kennel, we invite you to come and visit if at all possible to see our facilities.  Every part of our facility is cleaned daily. Our daily routine is such that the dogs are exercised each day, where they can interact with us, play catch and just plain run.  They go into our large back yard to spend their day lounging in the sun or playing together with their toys.  In the nighttime they are kenneled for their safety and to enable us to check each one for any health problems that may be surfacing.  (All of our dogs are house trained and we rotate who sleeps at night in our home.) All our dogs here are our pets, part of our family and we couldn’t love each and every one of them more.  They are our number one priority and making sure they live a healthy and happy life is our goal.  We really enjoy what we do and we think it shows!
